Hey everyone, welcome to the Private Club Radio Show Podcast, the industry's choice for news trends, updates and conversations all in the world of private golf and country clubs. I'm your host, danny Corby. Day three of the CMAA World Conference. One of my favorite days, it's the Expo days. I did not do any sessions, I got caught up in the expo. So seeing so many people, so many friends, colleagues, acquaintances, met a lot of new people. So, as well as being friendly and having a lot of connections to club managers, club professionals, I also have a lot of connections to a lot of the vendors and suppliers, and some of those people as well, I would call them, you know, industry partners, industry people as well, some club professionals, because there's ones who kind of live, breathe and die the club space. There's others that are kind of here just to pick up a couple extra clients. So, since I didn't go to any sessions, I would say my main takeaway from Expo Day is there's some people who get it and there's some people who don't, and when I say people, I mean vendors, suppliers. There's some that, I think, understand the game of relationships and building relationships and genuine connections and they know how to connect with people and they want to connect with people on a deeper level. They want to learn more about what's keeping them up at night, what struggles are they having and how they can help them find a solution. And when I say help them, it's not always about them and their product. It's about finding them the right solution, even if it means not using what they have to offer. It's about having a genuine connection and a genuine interest in people and wanting to help people.
Speaker 1:And you can just tell by the booth, by the conversations, by the energy, by the vibe around it. I mean just even. You can tell there's some vendors who are happy to be there, they want to be there. You can tell they're engaged, they're excited. And there's others. I'm just so surprised. They just sit there, not even smiles on their faces, just on their phones, and can almost care less. It is so strange to me, especially because it is not cheap to be there at the expo, to be there at the event. Now, to that same token, though, there are club managers. There are people who are there who are very standoffish as well, because it is very hard to be a vendor at an expo, at a place like that as well, and I think sometimes there are some club managers who could maybe engage a little bit more or not be as standoffish, or just them themselves having a genuine interest to learn and see what products and things are available out there, because it's not always about what you need right now. I'm a big fan of making those connections and making those friendships and having the conversations before you need them, cause I think sometimes you know we have fires to put out and it's better to have those conversations and to know the people and to know the vendor suppliers and what you may or may not need in the future, because it's going to come to a point that hopefully you might need something like that product and once you already have that relationship and that connection, I think it makes that a little bit better.
Speaker 1:Now, speaking of amazing connections and amazing booths, big shout out to some of our show partners, members first. I love all of them over there, and not just because they are a show partner here, but they are genuine human beings who care about the industry, who care about the people. A lot of the member, a lot of the employees, come from clubs. They've worked at clubs, they've been in it, from Sean Blile, vicky, kevin, all of them, most of them all, come from clubs and they come from a place of helping, a place of wanting to help, and they're just great humans. And if your website is looking for a redesign, they have world-class, best in class websites, no templates. They're all custom made just for you and your club and it gets you, your club, your message right, who you are across, to help ensure you are bringing in the best members possible. If you're thinking about, maybe, a new website or you just want to see what the latest and hottest trends are when it's coming to clubs and websites, head on over to membersfirstcom slash trends. That's membersfirstcom slash trends. They also have a killer tea sheet that pairs seamlessly with Jonas and if you want to learn some more about that, head on over to membersfirstcom slash T-T-E-E that's membersfirstcom slash T-T-E E.
Speaker 1:And speaking of setting up your club for success and making sure that your website looks great to attract the right members, do you know about our friends Kennis Member Vetting? Because it's once you can get the members. It's making sure the proper members are coming into your club and that's where Kennis Member Vetting comes in. They do fact-based member vetting and ensure the people who say they are on their applications are who they say they are, because right now people are coming from all over and I think clubs used to be. You used to really know the people who you were recommending, who you were referring to come in, and now it's not always that People are very transient. Now they're coming from all over, they're joining and sometimes you don't even need a member referral, and how do you really know who these people are? So, kenes, member vetting helps peel back the layers to ensure that people who are coming into your club say who they are so they can be the best fit possible.
Speaker 1:If you want to learn more, head on over to membervettingcom. Set up a call with Paul Dank guaranteed it's going to be amazing. We're talking about building the websites. We're talking about having a great experience for your members. We're talking about bringing in the right members and making sure the right members are coming into your club and protecting your club. And if you want to protect your club's people and your members, why not also protect your club's bottom line? That's where our friends Club Capital Group comes in. Their group purchasing model empowers the club industry by having exceptional service while reducing operational costs. By leveraging all their amazing relationships, clubs are saving 10% to 30% on their bottom line. There's no membership fees, there's no hidden fees, there's no waiting until the end of the year to get discounts. This is instant savings that can save you and your club hundreds to thousands, to hundreds of thousands potentially, every single year. If you want to learn more, head on over to clubcapitalgroupcom.
Speaker 1:So I want you to think as you're going through the last day of the vendor expo, try to make a new connection with maybe a vendor or a supplier that you may not need right now, may not need immediately, but just to start that conversation, to learn more about them, make sure they're a good fit for you, because just because they're here at the show doesn't mean that they're a great vendor for you, and just because you might want that vendor, they may not be the best for you. It's about making sure that we're getting the best solutions possible for our clubs, for our members, for our people, and I love the expo, I love seeing all the different products, the different people. One of my favorite things I saw there and some of you may have seen it he was over on the one side the fajita butler. That is the coolest thing I think I saw in the entire show. So cool it's for fajitas and it's this little all-in-one encompassing fajita builder and it holds the fajitas, it keeps them warm on the bottom, it has the little ramekins that hop, that pop on the side. It is so cool and they're only like 50 bucks Like it is silly. So if your club does fajitas, go check out Fajita Butler. I just thought that was the coolest product of the entire day.
Speaker 1:So that was day three for me. Unfortunately there was no sessions. I got to next thing I knew I was in the vendor expo. It was 12 30 noon and then it was over. So, uh, did not go to any education sessions, but I think there's a ton of education to be had just by going and people watching and learning and networking in the expo area. So that that's this episode. Until next time, probably tomorrow, catch y'all on the flippity flip.
